This page highlights all of the external programmes, competitions, events and activities that are available for our UWS students, graduates and staff at the University of the West of Scotland.

Converge Competition

 

Applications for the 2023 Converge Challenge are now open, with a £320,000 prize pot up for grabs for students, graduates and staff! There are four challenges available meaning you can apply for the one which best fits your business idea.

​

  • The Converge Challenge: for novel business ideas with solid IP foundations, high commercial potential, and evident scalability.

  • Net Zero Challenge: for climate-conscious entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions for carbon reduction.

  • Kickstart Challenge: for early stage, aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas they’d like to test, validate and prepare for launch.

  • Create Change Challengefor creative, social and cultural projects looking to become sustainable businesses.

Converge, Scotland’s largest company creation programme for the university sector, act as a springboard to success by providing academic innovators with the skills, guidance, funding, and network they need to turn their big ideas into commercial reality. Regardless of your background, location and business readiness, by joining one of our challenges you’ll gain the tools, support and funding opportunities to springboard your business into the world.

And it won’t cost you a penny. Zip, zilch, nada, zero. 

​

Converge are also hosting regular workshops on key aspects of business creation, or you can reach out to them for tailored advice.

Demola Scotland Programme
 

Start your 2023 right by joining one of the Demola Co-creation Projects!

 

The University of the West of Scotland and Demola Global have partnered together to recruit UWS students into our new Demola Scotland Programme - creating our first ever UWS only cohort. 

 

Demola offers you the chance to spice up your regular study schedule and be part of creative community working with foresight. These 8 week co-creation projects deal with themes such as digital nomads, wellbeing data, home automation, sustainable tourism, net-zero, new forms leadership and many more. Our diverse student teams consist of talents from different fields and countries. Project work will be facilitated by Demola's co-creation experts.

​

You will be required to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week.

 

Each project will consist of both online and x2 face-to-face sessions at our Scottish UWS campuses.

​
